Why are cats always hungry, though? There's an answer that most cat parents won't necessarily like to hear. Cats are often always hungry due to a mix of evolutionary wiring, nutritional gaps, and boredom. Their natural biology drives them to graze on small meals throughout the day, while indoor environments can cause them to seek out food for mental stimulation or comfort. It means that leaving a constantly full food bowl and making sure their senses are stimulated throughout the day to prevent boredom is the solution that most cat parents don't take, unfortunately.
Our cat never had “meal time”. She has a food bowl that's constantly full, and she knows to go and eat a little whenever she feels like it. She never had to wait for a meal, because the concept of “meal” is foreign to her. She just… eats. Add to that the fact that we care to play with her, let her watch birds from the window, and engage her with stimulating activities throughout the day, and the result is a cat who doesn't go to the food bowl because she's bored.
